it happened to me a week ago, something went wrong, don't know why, all the meters werent working, so i called BMW, they said it was gonna be more expensive to fix it than to replace it, so i went on eBay and bought myself a used one for about 60 bucks, works like a charm, they range from $100-$300, so try bidding.
