Kashmir was so badly affected by the earthquake that happened there in 2005 because the country was not prepared for the earthquake and since aid was slow to arrive there this affected millions of people living there as many suffered and died and by the fact that the amount of damage caused by the earthquake was so severe it will take a long time for Kashmir to recover and get back to normal again.
The earthquake was one of the most seriouse ones that has ever occured it killed in the millions and deeply affected countries around it ):
It was a pretty terrible event that affected thousands of people. It can be confusing talking about the magnitude of an earthquake as different countries can use different scales (Japan uses a different one from the international standard as one example). The 28 March earthquake was Magnitude 8.6 as measured in Northern Sumatra, Indonesia at 4.09 pm in 2005. The extra energy release to go further up the scale is exponential (meaning that a magnitude 2 earthquake is much more than double the energy of a magnitude 1 earthquake).
2004 Indian Ocean M9.1 ~230,000 dead 2008 Sichuan (China) M7.9 ~88,000 dead 2005 Kashmir (Pakistan) M7.6 ~86,000 dead 2003 Bam (Iran) M6.6 ~31,000 dead 2001 Gujarat (India) M7.7 ~20,000 dead Also 2011 Japan M8.9
A massive earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale rocked North India, Pakistan and Afghanistan on Oct 8, 2005 forcing people to rush out of their residences. Hundreds of people died in Jammu and Kashmir. The quake which was recorded at 9.20 AM was felt in Delhi and adjoining areas in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana , Rajasthan , Jammu and Kashmir, Uttaranchal , Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Earthquake rocked parts of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Pak occupied Kashmir. There are casualties in these places too. Reports states people came out of their homes, schools and offices due to panic. Most of the affected people lived in mountainous regions with access impeded by landslides that blocked the roads, leaving an estimated 3.3 million homeless in Pakistan. The UN reported that 4 million people were directly affected, prior to the commencement of winter snowfall in the Himalayan region
The Nias earthquake, which struck off the west coast of Sumatra, Indonesia, in March 2005, was primarily caused by the movement of tectonic plates along the boundary of the Indo-Australian Plate and the Eurasian Plate. This region is known for its complex tectonic activity, where the subduction of the Indo-Australian Plate beneath the Eurasian Plate generates stress that can lead to significant seismic events. The release of this built-up stress resulted in the earthquake, which was part of a series of seismic events affecting the area.
8th September 2005
The Kashmir earthquake, which struck on October 8, 2005, had a magnitude of 7.6. It caused widespread devastation in the Kashmir region, particularly affecting areas in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and parts of India. The earthquake resulted in significant loss of life, with estimates of around 86,000 fatalities and millions displaced. The disaster also led to extensive damage to infrastructure and housing.
8th October 2005
The Kashmir Earthquake happened in the 8th of September 2005 and measured 7.6 on the Richter Scale killing 80,000 people.
The Kashmir Earthquake was affected by the destructive tectonic plate boundaries. Eurasian and Indian plate hitting each other. Thats what caused the Himalayas. Once, they hit an earthquake occurs.
The epicenter of the 2005 Pakistan earthquake was near the town of Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
The major earthquake of October 8, 2005 most affected Kashmir, the Pakistani-occupied province claimed by both Pakistan and India.
The Kashmir Earthquake is 7.2 on the Richter Scale
An estimated 3.5 million people were left homeless after the Kashmir earthquake in 2005. Additionally, around 87,000 people lost their lives in the disaster, which severely impacted the region.
The cleanup efforts after the Kashmir earthquake in 2005 took years to complete. It was a complex process that involved not just debris removal but also rebuilding homes, infrastructure, and communities that were heavily affected by the disaster. Recovery and reconstruction efforts continued for many years following the earthquake.
The 2005 earthquake in Kashmir caused an estimated $6 billion in damages. The cost to rebuild the region was extensive and involved significant international aid and assistance.
The Kashmir earthquake of 2005 lasted around 30 seconds. It was recorded to be the 14th most destructive in the world. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- However, I felt it for over 2 minutes. I was taking a shower and I was able to dry myself, put on clothes, watch my bathroom wall crack -_-, open the door, run towards the stairs, then down, up again to grab my brother, down again and out. When I got out it still hadn't ended. and The 'roar' of the quake was HUGE!
