the cam position sensor and ignition coil are inside the distributor. the crank position sensor is located on the bottom front of the engine, behind the belts on the left side.
96' z28 won't start because lack of spark. Could it be crankshaft position sensor? I just replaced distributor.
There's also the crankshaft position sensor mounted on the drivers side / top of the transmission housing. Some auto parts stores carry them, some don't. The voltage connector is on top of the intake manifold, near the firewall. Also check the voltage to the ignition coil.
Yes it very well could, because a misfiring coil pack or weak coil pack can cause interruptions in the signals to both the camshaft position sensor into the crankshaft position sensor. I had this happen on my Buick LeSabre, it gave a code 18, which is Cam / crank position sensor error okay. I replaced all three coil packs, and it went away and never came back. If you look at the diagram for the wiring of your ignition control module, you'll see that the coil packs, ignition control module, and camshaft and crankshaft position sensors are all interconnected.
Double check, then triple check your firing order. Especially which distributor post is #1. Sounds like you're one off.
try to get a new ignition rotor

The most common failure associated with those symptoms is the Crankshaft Position Sensor.
The crankshaft position is on top of the transmission bell housing on the drivers side. The sensor can be replaced by unbolting and unhooking the plug.
AnswerAfter you check the obvious, ie module, connectors, look for loose distributor shaft that causes the hall effect sensor in the distributor to not energize. i would check your Crankshaft Position Sensor its located at the top of the bell houseing on the drivers sideView of uninstalled Crankshaft Position Sensor.View of rear of engine showing Crankshaft Position Sensor & harness highlighted in red.Great photo showing location of CPS on bellhousing.NOTE: I found this pic on my harddrive and have no clue where it came from. Had cyrillic writing on larger image & probably came from another Jeep site. I do NOT claim credit for this! Please contact for credit or removal.
A damaged crankshaft will need replaced.A damaged crankshaft will need replaced.
The crankshaft sensor is in the front of the engine.Above the starter. You will have to drop the starter.2 15mm bolts.Look up and there it will be.
I changed only the camshaft position sensor on my 2000 Kia Sportage. So I don't think so.
The camshaft position sensor is an integral part of the distributor. If codes and tests indicate that it is faulty, the distributor must be replaced. Last I looked a cheap one was $1,500.
it is located next to the oil filter right above the oil pan
Crankshaft Position Sensor 1994 HyundaiI have the Haynes repair manual for 1986-1998 Hyundai Accel and Accents. The book states the CKP is incorporated in the distributor body in 1994 and earlier models, if faulty, the complete distributor assembly will have to be replaced. On 1995 and later models the CKP is located at the rear of the engine near the transaxle bell housing. I realize this is not your exact model, but it may point you in the right direction. You may also consider calling the service department at your Hyundai dealer and asking them. .
The camshaft position sensor is integral with the distributor. So, have it checked carefully by a professional because, if the sensor is faulty, the distributor must be replaced. That can get ugly expensive real quick.
the seal on the crank shaft needs replaced
