Minwax stains are made to go directly onto wood. You do not need primer, and I think it looks awful over primer.
I've been told the stain is better as it wont chip
Yes, you can.
Yes, but with any wood surface that you stain you must have a clean surface. If you have removed all the old paint and you are down to bare wood then you probably should brush on Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner, Minwax runs about 10-11 bucks a quart. If ANY paint or primer is left on wood you will get spots that will only show up after you stain so make sure it is clean and bare.
Yes. It seems that Zinsser shellac-based primer (BIN) will adhere to just about everything, and even if it takes a few coats, will seal just about everything.
It depends what surface is. Usually you can apply oil based paint if surface is smooth.
Use Sikkens paint brush cleaner!

I have not used Minwax Polyshades stain for my woodworking projects.
To thin Minwax stain for better application, you can add mineral spirits or paint thinner to the stain. Start by adding a small amount and mix well until you reach your desired consistency. Test the thinned stain on a small area to ensure it applies smoothly before using it on your project.

If the door has a primer or a paint on it then no. Stain needs open grain to work. Stain seeps into the pores of the wood. If there is a coating, i.e. the primer or paint, then the stain will have nowhere to go. It will just sit on top of the coating until it is wiped off or dries in ugly blotches.
I have not personally used Minwax spray stain for my woodworking projects.
Yes, you can.
Yes, you can, but then it won't be 'express stain' anymore.
The smell of Minwax stain typically takes about 24 to 48 hours to completely dissipate.
