Do you mean that the heater will not shut down either by turning the thermostat down or turning the switch off. If turning the pump off will not shut down the heater it could possibly be one of the high limits or the gas valve has failed in the open position.
If the heater will not fire when calling for heat then one or more components has failed.

Check the temperature sender. not the sensor, the sender. the sender goes from the thermostat to the computer. They have been know to prevent vehicles from running. I second that.
check the fan clutch
Hi,The headlamp bulb is relatively easy to replace in these vans. What you have to do is remove the turn signal assembly first, and then the headlamp assembly. This is done by removing 3 wing nuts that hold the assemblies in, and then pulling the turn signal assembly straight out, followed by the headlamp assembly. The headlamp assembly has to be lifted UP and then Out.Once you have the assembly out, the headlight bulb can be unscrewed from the back of the assembly and replaced. Be careful not to get any oil from your fingers on the new bulb, as that will heat up when the light is on and decrease the lifetime of the bulb.I have included a link below that shows pictures of the assemblies and how to removed them.Take Care, Greg
Has the rad ever been flushed? Try that if there is no indication of water pump failure (leaking or venting coolant from pump.)
if your thermostat was bad your engine will over heat but it has nothing to do with the fan, fans are driven by a diffrent mechanism. try checking your thermostatic switch/ heat sensitive switch or sensor, located somewhere in the cooling system(radiator, engine block or thermostat housing) which is the one that tells the fan when to come on.(only electric fans)it may be faulty wiring
The Complete Thermostat Assembly must be replaced as a unit It CANNOT be dissembled!! Replacement assembly’s are available from “http://www.daewoous.com/”
The Thermostat and Temp and Press Valve is faulty and needs to be replaced. or the PRV (pressure reducing valve) is dirty and must be replaced
Could be thermostat not opening causing a back pressure
the thermostat is inside a black plastic housing, it is inside the housing assembly where both radiator hoses meet up by the engine. one cannot replace just the thermostat, the whole housing has to be replaced, good luck. For easier access, remove the fan assembly (just one allen-bolt on the passenger side and a plastic rivet on the driver side).
The thermostat is done it has to be replaced.......
The assembly that replaced the Articles of Confederation was the Bill of Rights.
brilliant, the thermostat is backwards
You don't. You replace a thermostat that has failed. They are meant to be replaced.
Can not be repaired, only replaced with the thermostat housing as one unit.
the thermostat is a water/coolant flow regulator using pressure or heat from the water/coolant to open itself and let water circulate. when the thermostat gets stuck (won't open/close normally), the car's engine will overheat, usually will get replaced (if you go to a certified mechanic) or will be removed and not replaced (if you go to an uncertified McGiber type mechanic), although this does not affect your car in a negative way.
I replaced a 2003 Chevy Venture thermostat once before. It is buried on the top right side of the engine under the throttle assembly. You can see the thermostat cover by following the 2 inch black tube from the top of the radiator to it. It is easy to replace one you remove the throttle assembly which is very difficult to do, especially if you are not familiar with engine repairs. This is not a four screws and your done job. Take it to a mechanic if you are unsure. Luckily, I had a mechanic who helped me when I did it!
If the thermostat has failed it will need replaced.
