This is a general that will cover most vehicles.

I have found the major cause of repeat starter motor failiure

is caused by the motor being energised when the engine is running.

The most common cause of this problem is a faulty ignition switch,

this causes current to flow to the starter motor when the engine is running.

The way to test this is when the engine is running use a test light connected

from the small terminal on the starter soleonoid to earth

the test light should not light

Good luck
