it is most likely your fuel pump
That engine needs fuel, compression and spark to start and run. You are missing one of those.
Check for fuel and spark.
The battery may be too weak to start the engine. Jump start it or replace the battery.
With the distributor cap off have some one turn the engine over. If the rotor doesn't turn you broke the cam or a timing gear.

if the sound of the engine cranking sounds unusual, your timing belt has snapped.
A bad injector can cause your engine to flood out and not start. The bad injector might be completely open and shooting too much fuel into the system.

Probably the alternator. If the engine turns over when you try to start it I suspect a broken timing belt. i had similar prob in an 04 rio, turned out to be a fault with a connection to the engine fuse block
For most vehicles, the fuel pump only turns on briefly when you try to start the engine. If the engine doesn't start, the pump turns off. You need to test the fuel pressure with the engine running.
