This is an effective and cost efficient way to clean your filter. You can purchase commercial cleaning products from a pool supply store, but I use powder dishwashing detergent. It works just as well for a fraction of the price (I recommend Cascade brand). You will need to soak the cartridge overnight for best results. You will need: 1) a clean 5 gallon bucket 2) Cascade dishwashing powder 3) a hose with a nozzle attachment Step 1) Turn off the power to the pump at the breaker. If you forget to replace the top to the filter housing and the pump runs overnight, you will wake up in the morning to an empty pool, a soaking wet yard and possibly a burnt out pool pump. Besides, there is no point in running the pump without the filter. Step 2) Spray up and down between the pleats of the filter at a 45 degree angle using a tight stream of water, removing as much debris as you can. Step 3) Pour 1 cup of Cascade into the bucket and fill with water halfway. Put the filter in and add water until you can cover over half of the filter. If you have a big enough container, you can soak the entire filter at one time. Step 4) If the filter is very dirty, let it soak for about 15 minutes, agitate the filter and flip it over. Soak 15 more minutes, agitate and remove from solution. Discard solution. (don't pour it on your grass) and repeat Steps 2 and 3 until the water starts to clear. If the filter is just a little dirty, soak half of the filter for a couple of hours, flip it over and soak for a couple of hours more. Trust me, you will know if you need to replace the solution. Step 5) Remove from solution. Check between pleats with your finger. If it feels slimy inside, the filter is still dirty. Rinse very well with water and replace cartridge. Restore power, start pump and check for leaks.

It's a cartridge filter that sits in a bowl. It's located on the driver side of the engine back near the firewall. Looks like an oil filter housing. 1. Take off the bolt on the top of the filter housing. This will allow the housing to drop into your hand. Have some rags down because diesel fuel is going to splash around. 2. Remove the old filter and the rubber "O" ring from the housing. You'll get a new "O" ring when you pick up the new filter. Discard any old fuel in the housing and wipe out with a clean lint free rag. (Looks pretty nasty doesn't it) 3. Insert the new filter into the housing and install the new "O" ring. Fill the housing with fresh clean fuel. 4. Reinstall the housing opposite how you took it off. Snug up the bolt without over tightening. 5. Turn the key on but DO NOT start the engine. After 20 seconds, try to start engine. If engine doesn't start, repeat this procedure until it does. (You are bleeding the air out of the system here) Good Luck.
Ink can dry inside the nozzle and clog an inkjet cartridge. You can clean away the clog with rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab. Remove the cartridge from your printer. Inspect the cartridge for signs of leaks. A cartridge covered in ink is probably empty, not clogged. If the cartridge is clean on the outside, dip a swab in alcohol. Gently rub the back edge and bottom of the cartridge to loosen the dried ink.

Cartridge filters can over time become les effective because the material they are made of becomes clogged with calcium. A method that worked well for me in the past before I changed to a sand filter was to soak the whole cartridge in a fairly strong solution of acid. This eats out the calcium and gets the cartridge working properly again. I may be wise however to check that the material of the filter can withstand the corrosive effect of the acid. Cleaners that do this are also available ready made at pool shops.
You can by a "filter cleaning" chemical at your pool store. It usually requires you to soak the filter in part water and part chemical for 12 hrs or so and then spray with hose. It works great on our hayward cartridge filter.
The purpose of an AC filter is that they keep the inside of the air conditioner clean by trapping dirt particles and the keep the outside air clean by sucking in dirt particles.
