I actually did this a few years ago. I had a Kohler metal shower door enclosure (brass color) that was corroding along the bottom trim on the outside of the door. (Our water is somewhat acid and eats away at most of our fixtures.) I wasn't brave enough to paint the whole door. I just wanted to paint a 3" strip across the bottom to camoflage the discolored metal. I first lightly sanded the area, cleaned it & wiped it down with alcohol. I carefully taped off any areas I didn't want to paint and also taped newspaper for about 4' all around (walls, doors, floor). I used Rustoleum spray paint in a brass hammered metal - a few light coats. lt looks great , goes great with the original color and has lasted for a few years. I am about to do another shower that is silver with Rustoleum hammered silver. I will only do the outsideand this time will do all around the outside door frame and across the bottom trim.
