To get a replacement car key, first check if you have a spare. If not, note your car’s make, model, and year. Then contact a local locksmith, dealership, or roadside assistance for help. You’ll likely need to show ID and proof of ownership.
yes of course.... anywhere that kas a key cutter can make one. they do not have the electronic sensor in the key and ignition so any spare can be used.
After a long period of use, the key wears down. I had this happen to me and the key would just not turn. luckily I had a spare in my wallet. When I compared them to each other, I could see that the key I used all the time was worn at the front end on both sides. It didn't match the spare key anymore. The spare key turned it over real easy, so I went and had another spare made to keep in my wallet. If you don't have a spare key that is not worn, you may not be able to make a new key from the old one. Then again, because it's a new key it may still work for you, since the part that wears is the edge. It gets rounded off. If this doesn't work, you may need to order a new key at a dealer, probably with your vin number. Hope this helps.
