Don't think you can!
from what I can tell by looking, and looking at the service manual the only way to check or see, is if the power unit (transmission) is un bolted from inside the tub, and dropped, and removed, to see inside from the top of it. if you go this far... you need to replace o couple of seals (agitator shaft water seal, and the gasket seal that your going to ruin by removing!
If anyone knows of another way, please chime in!
There are many stores that sell Maytag washer parts. If you need replacement parts, you can check out stores such as Sears and Lowe's. Parts can also be purchased directly from the Maytag website.
The Maytag model A183 washer was first introduced in the early 1990s. To determine its exact age, you would need to check the serial number, which typically indicates the date of manufacture. If you provide the serial number, I can help you decode it to find out the specific age of your washer.
The load capacity of a Maytag washer A512 Series 4 is approximately 12-16 pounds of laundry per wash cycle. It is recommended to check the specific model's manual for exact load capacity information.
Maytag Model LAT9605AAE was made in 1989. This is a washer appliance and some of the design has sears parts in it.
The Maytag washer Model A108 has a capacity of approximately 3.2 cubic feet. As a matter of fact you can usually come out cheaper if you buy a used washer from somebody else. If you still want to repair you might want to check out this site. http://repair2000.com/
The motor runs in one direction to agitate, in the opposite direction to spin. If the reversing switch is bad, the brake will not release, the tub won't spin, and you may smell the belt getting hot due to slippage.
Answer by: THowell1975Your serial # is missing some digits...find them all and check out: http://www.appliance411.com/service/date-code.phpApparently THowell1975 has no clue about the Maytag you have... lol... That series model (A50) was produced by Maytag from 1964 till sometime in the 1970's. You are not missing any digits from your model number. I know this for a fact because I actually own one of these units. It has only broken 1 "belt" in 15 years and Maytag actually still has parts for this washer in stock in their warehouse the last time I checked about 2yrs ago. If you are old enough you may remember the old Maytag commercials where the repair man does nothing because the units never break... well I personally believe that commercial was made because of this washer model lol... It has seen 2 boys through high school sports and the spin drum actually almost dries the clothes. You couldn't pick a better old washer to have!
Check the clutch hydralic fluid level- on the driver's side firewall behind the washer bottle.
Check the electrical connection. It will shut off if there is an obstruction to the flow of electricity. Also check if the door has been shut properly. Washers have door switches that the machine will use to detect if it is safe to operate. If not, it might automatically shut off.
There are some websites that will have Maytag parts. Sometimes they will be cheaper than the prices that is offered at Maytag. However Maytag has the advantage of having specific parts for its appliances versus general generic parts at other websites. Also if you want to find a part for your old Maytag, best bet is to check out the website
Check that your washer is level on the floor, as uneven flooring can cause shaking. Make sure the load is balanced inside the drum and not overloaded. Also, check that the shipping bolts have been removed from the machine as they can cause excessive vibration.
