Okay, I have a few tips that I found on the internet to help you figure out how to clean your crocheted bedspread. Most crocheted bedspreads were made with cotton thread, so it's very possible that your bedspread is cotton, unless you know it's made from another material.

One suggestion was to use OxyClean (found at WalMarts, Sams Club, Walgreens). Use it instead of your washing detergent. Use a gentle cycle--no need to agitate the fibers in the bedspread.

Another person suggested using Arm and Hammer washing soda (not borax!), generally found in large grocery stores. She fills her washing machine with warm water and adds about one half cup of washing soda. She then agitates the mix (to get it mixed in the water). Then she puts the bedspread in and agitates the bedspread in the water. She then lets it sit overnight and then washes and rinses the bedspread in the washing machine. She stated that this process works great for her.
