By just rolling it over the cutting line but you must have a firm surface underneath, preferably a proper cutting mat.
Thankfully technology has improved and we can now cut fabric with a rotary cutter, a sharp, pizza cutter like blade that can cut through four layers of fabric at a time. The better we cut our fabric, the better our quilt will come together and the easier the quilt making process will feel.
To cut fabric with a rotary cutter effectively and accurately, first ensure the fabric is flat and smooth. Place a cutting mat underneath the fabric to protect your work surface. Use a ruler or cutting guide to measure and mark the cutting lines. Hold the ruler firmly in place and use the rotary cutter to slice through the fabric in a smooth, continuous motion. Be sure to keep your fingers away from the blade for safety.
A rotary cutter is commonly used in sewing and quilting to cut fabric with precision and ease. It can also be used for cutting paper, leather, and other materials in crafts and DIY projects.
To achieve precise and efficient results when cutting fabric with a rotary cutter, make sure to use a sharp blade, a cutting mat underneath the fabric, and a ruler or cutting guide to ensure straight lines. Hold the cutter firmly and use a smooth, continuous motion to cut through the fabric. Take your time and practice to improve your cutting skills.
To achieve a clean and precise cut on fabric using the rolling cut technique, make sure to use a sharp rotary cutter and a cutting mat. Place the fabric on the cutting mat, hold it firmly in place, and then use the rotary cutter to roll smoothly and evenly along the desired cutting line. Avoid applying too much pressure and make sure to keep the blade perpendicular to the fabric for a clean cut.
To prevent fabric from ripping when making a precise cut, use sharp fabric scissors or a rotary cutter, stabilize the fabric with a stabilizer or interfacing, and avoid stretching the fabric while cutting. Additionally, marking the cutting line with a fabric marker can help ensure accuracy and prevent mistakes that could lead to ripping.
The AccuQuilt Fabric Cutter allows users to cut fabric up to 90% faster than conventional scissors. The AccuQuilt Fabric Cutter is even more useful for a person who the manual methods will be difficult due to sore joints.
To cut ceramic tile that is already installed, you can use a tile cutter or a diamond-tipped rotary tool. Score the tile with the cutter or make a shallow cut with the rotary tool, then carefully break the tile along the scored line. Be sure to wear safety goggles and gloves when cutting ceramic tile.
you don't, you have to cut the material with a decal cutter and then heat transfer it.

Bias strips are cut on a 45 degree slant from the grain of the fabric. One common strip width is 2 1/2 inches wide, which produces a 1/2 wide binding on the front and back of the quilt. Cut the fabric using a rotary cutter, rotary ruler and cutting mat. First, press to remove creases at the fold. To make the first cut across the fabric, place the fabric open on the cutting mat, take one corner and lay it along the opposite side to make a triangle and a new fold line and place the ruler on the fabric. Make the first cut along the new diagonal fold of fabric. Then move the ruler over 2 1/2 inches, aligning the ruler with the first cut, and make the second cut, which will give you two bias strips that are 2 1/2 inches wide and more than 40 inches long.
