Install using the compatibility wizard, or by right-clicking on the .exe file and selecting Run As Administrator. Apply compatibility settings by right-clicking on the game's shortcut if the colours or screen are not right after installation. Always then use the shortcut to start the game, closing the autorun screen that pops up when you insert the cd-rom in the drive. There are not many children's games that will not work on Vista using one of those 2 strategies - I sell children's software for a living and have to test them all when a new operating system comes out. All the Windows (not DOS) versions of Carmen Sandiego titles work on both XP and Vista but may require one of the two strategies above. This is the same for most Learning Company/Broderbund/Riverdeep titles.
