You need to be more specific as to what you are referring. I am not sure if you are referring to the ignition switch or module.
You will need to remove the retaining ring from the top of your 1997 Chevy Camaro ignition switch. The ignition switch will slide out. Remove the wiring harness. Reverse the process to install the new ignition switch.

The ignition control module is located under the electronic ignition control module cover. On a 1997 2.4L cavalier, it will have the words 2.4L twin cam stamped on it. It is on the top of the engine and is held in place with four bolts. This cover must be removed to get to the spark plugs.
most likely a dead ignition module, the accessory part of the ignition goes awry, seen it happen a couple times after you install a new head unit.
