Loosen the tensioner pulley. The tensioner pulley will slide to the right. This will loosen the alternator belt. So it can be removed.

How To replace 93 Ranger 4-cylinder Alternator?

Disconnect the battery. If your model uses a belt tensioner then move it to take the tension of the belt. Otherwise loosen the alternator bolts and the unit will move in its bracket to let you remove the belt. Disconnect alternator wiring and remove the alternator bolts to take the unit out. Reverse procedure to install the new unit.

How do you replace the alternator on a 1989 Toyota Hiace van?

Not sure if 1991 and 1989 is sameNot sure if the alternator is under your right front seat on a 1989 model, but it is on 1991. You need to remove the seat and the top under the seat to get proper access. When that is done, it is easy removal of the alternator. You will see that the alternator is self explainable.

Where is the alternator in a Toyota MR2?

The alternator is located by the right side wheel, at the bottom of the timing belt. It is a difficult process to remove and replace. It must come out the top, so depending on the model of MR2, you may have to disconnect the cruise control and move it aside. You can move it out the bottom but you would have to remove the exhaust.

On an older model Volkswagen you would have a generator in stead of an alternator. The generator would give you DC.

Remove top hold down bolt and other bolt holding bracket onto alternator. Remove bottom mounting bolt (right next to the belt). Remove electrical connector. Installation is reverse.NewIf it is anything like my 91' GSI, you're probably asking about the "tight fit" that the alternator seems to have. With a LOT of patience, the alternator is removed by two 14mm bolts below the main tension bolt (that bolt does not have enough room to be removed). After that, you may have to remove the right-side CV-axel to fully remove it. My personal experience wasn't bad because I had totally removed the air-conditioning system and hoses. The alternator can be removed top-side if this is done. -Jegoyet

How do you replace the alternator on a 1991 Mazda MPV?

Going on the 3.0 L 4 wheel drive model the alternator is actually removable without removing the axle or lifting the engine as I've read over and over. Remove the bolts on the alternator. Remove the belt. You will likely have to remove the belt assembly in front of the lower mounting bolt. Remove the two connecting wires and viola, easily lifted out. Brush change is the likely option to fix the regulator. If the voltage regulator is at fault, apparently this isn't servicable and the whole unit will have to be replaced.

How do you replace the alternator on a 1996 Buick Regal?

Best to get a shop manual for this operation, if you have not replaced it before. Usually there is an "Idler Pulley" on many late model cars that is "spring loaded". You "Bias" this pulley (usually with a socket wrench) so that the serpentine belt has enough slack in it so you can remove it. Then you disconnect the Positive Battery cable, disconnect the "Field Wire" harness and Positive battery lead from the alternator, unbolt and remove the alternator. Reverse procedure to install new alternator. TommyTrouble
