How do you replace a fog lamp bulb for a 2001 Infinity I30?

To replace the fog lamp bulbs; Step-1. You will have to jack the car up in the front to allow easy access to the fog lamps. Step-2. You will have to lay down to see where the actual opening is for the fog lamp. Step-3. Reach your hand inside the opening where the bulb is located. Step-4. Twist the housing that is holding the bulb to your left (remember righty tightie & lefty loosie) to remove the bulb. Step-5. Replace the bulb by actually doing the reverse and remember (righty tighty and lefty loosie). Step-6. Smile you are finished.

2 screws on top of the light assembly and a 3rd underneath on the bottom. Can get to it by unscrewing 2 screws on the wheel well guard and bend it back to slip your arm in behind the bumper. Easy if you have the patience. Expect about an hour and a half to do both lights.

You have to remove the entire front end, remove the head lights, you will see the screws needed to make this happen. From there, carefully remove the ballast, and install the new lights. Remember not to touch the bulbs!

Quick rundown:

1. (Optional) Lift the front of the G35 and place it on jack stands. Remove both front wheels, place them under the car if you don't have jack stands.

-If you don't do this then turn your wheels to which direction giving you more space to fit your arm through the fender-

2. Remove fender lining using a flathead screw driver.

3. Stick your arm through and make your way up to the headlight and blindly feel for the bulb. Once you find it, un-plug it as you would on a normal car and remove the bulb as you retract your arm.

4. Do the same thing to put in a new bulb being very cautious as to not damaging the new bulb on anything.

5. Repeat on opposite side if necessary.

6. Reverse the removal of everything to complete.

These instructions are to change HID Xenon low beam bulbs. Changing the high beam bulb instructions are below. H.I.D. Replacement Bulb*: 35 Watts D2R or D2C (hybrid version that will fit D2R or D2S fittings). *3 Notes: 1) I have heard the D2C puts out slightly more light, as it doesn't have any bulb area covered like the D2R. So, I installed the D2C on my car. 2) Also, make sure you research which K rating you want on your bulb, so you don't end up with a color you are unhappy with. 3) Many online retailers carry good quality bulbs at a fraction of the dealer price. ************************************* Passenger side: Immediately behind the light, semi-forcefully pull the white winshield washer refill tube upwared while wiggling it side/side. It will pop right out. Then remove the 2 screws holding in the white coolant container and relocate it out of the way. Drivers side: Remove battery. Immediately behind the light, remove top from fuse box. Remove 2 screw from hold fuse box to inner wall, so you can move it around as you work. Each light will have a black backing piece, with 3 screws, known as a ballast. Remove the 3 screws and let the ballast hang out of the way. This will reveal 2 small gold screws inside the main housing. Be careful not to drop as you remove them. I put some flexible all-prupose household glue on my screwdriver tip to hold the screws for the extraction. Now the bulb will pull out of its reflective inner housing. There is a metal pinch connector holding a top casing around the bulb, which keeps it in place. Squeeze and lower the pinch connector off the hooks on which it rests. Now pull off the metal casing and squeeze connector over the bulb, carefully. Taking note exactly how it was on and how you got it off. Replace bulb, w/out touching the new bulb glass. (If touched clean w/ rubbing alcohol and clean rag/paper towel.) Replace top casing and squeeze connector as it came off. **(Make sure when you replace the bulb and metal top casing, that the screws holes on the light assembly do NOT line up over the large silver power wire, but are 90 degrees rotated away, or it will be impossible to get your screw driver in position!) Put bulb back into its reflective housing and put your two screws back in (using the glue really helps here). Screw the ballast back on. Do the other bulb. Only about an hour job, but may take 2 the first time you feel your way through it. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------High Beam bulb: 65 Watts 9005 (available at any parts store) The bulb assembly is visible without removing anything. Twists the bulb assembly counterclock-wise and it will pull right out from it's reflective housing. Pull out the bulb from the assembly. Insert new bulb. Takes a 2 minutes per bulb. Replace with some nice Pia Xtreme Whites for additional brightness.
