How do you tie dye a black shirt?

You can not dye black material. However, you can remove some of the dye of a black cotton garment using bleach or a product known as Discharge Paste. Then you can tie dye or paint with dye on the white or near-white areas. If you use bleach, you must first get a chemical sometimes known as 'bleach stop'. Washing alone is not enough to completely stop the bleach from acting to weaken your fabric. After bleaching parts of your black garment, you must soak the garment in the 'bleach stop' to prevent the bleach from continuing to act on your fabric.

Using bleach, or to a lesser extent using discharge paste, requires extra care because these chemicals are harsh. But used carefully they can help create stunning effects.

Once a shirt has been tie-dyed with a permanent dye, the dye is set and the shirt has been dried, you can launder as you normally would. It is advisable to wash it alone the first time, just in case the dye is not completely set, and runs. this could result in the damaging of other things you wash it with.

I've tried dyeing a pair of pants in the same colour. But failed. I suggest bleaching first? Yeah, I think bleaching is possible so that the colour will be more lighter, and you can dye it :)

Materials: old T-shirt, string, package of dye

Tools: Large old pan, clean stick for stiring, iron

This is how you do it:

Spread an old T-shirt out flat. Gather it in the center, gathering front and back in the same handful. Wrap string around the gathered piece several times. Tie the string, with a bow so that you can untie it later.

Continue gathering and tying, as many times as you can. Show how to get balanced design - you match each tie on the left side with one of the right side.

Mix dye in an old pan, following the directions that come with the package. Use very hot water.

Put the whole T-shirt under water, stir with a clean stick until the T-shirt is as dark as you want it. Rinse in cold water and wring out. Until the strings and hang the skirt up to dry. Have the shirt ironed to make the dye more permanent. Whenever you wash the shirt, use cool water.

just rubberband it but it has to be lite colored then take die and put it in scwirt bottle and spray then put in zeplock baggy and get all the air out and leave it set for 24 hours and then run under hot water and put in drier by its self or with your darks
