*edit* It all depends... if it takes the carpenter 3 seconds to cut one piece of the board (using a circular saw) it would take him 30 seconds. If he was using a hand saw, and it took him, say, 30 seconds to cut one piece, it would take him 5 minutes.

How many 6 x 6 blocks can be made out of a 4 foot board?

Assumption: 6 x 6 is using inches as the unit (half a foot) and a 4 foot board means 4 square feet of board. Each square foot of board can be cut into four half foot x half foot pieces. Therefore, the 4 foot board would be able to make 16 half foot x half foot (6 inch x 6 inch) blocks.

Cutting a 10 foot plank into 10 equal sections if it takes 1 minute per cut how long will it take him to get the 10 equal pieces?

NOTE: The problem asks to cut the board into 10 equal parts, not into equal boards proportional to the original piece of wood. Case 1: CANNOT stack wood on top of each other. Assume the board 5 feet by 2 feet. If you made one horizontal cut in the center of the board 1 foot from each edge, and then made four vertical cuts at 1 foot apart, you would then have 10 equal pieces at 1' by 1' each. Time taken: 5 minutes for 5 cuts. Case 2: CAN stack wood on top of each other. The board is 5 feet by 2 feet. Cut the board long way 1 foot from the middle and the result is 2 boards 5 feet by 1 foot. Stack these two boards on top of each other. Then, cut the stack vertically one foot from the end now making 2 pieces of wood 1' by 1' and 2 pieces of wood 4' by 1'. Then, take the 2 pieces of wood 4' by 1' and stack them on top of each other. Cut vertically once in half, so you now result in 4 boards 2' by 1'. Finally, stack these 4 pieces of wood on top of each other. Cut once vertically and you now have 8 pieces of wood 1' by 1' (plus the 2 from earlier which now make 10). Time taken: 4 minutes for 4 cuts.

What is a 2.9 Board foot?

A board foot is 12 inches by 12 inches, 1 inch thick. Any combination of measurements that equal this is 1 board. 6x24x1 is 1 board foot. 2.9 board foot could be anything. There should be another measurement saying what this is. Board foot is used to figure cost as most common wood is the same price per board foot. Could be 2x4, 2x12 or 1 inch, it all works out the roughly the same price.

Steve cut a board 8 feet long into three equal pieces how long was as piece?

Oh, dude, let's break it down. If Steve cut an 8-foot board into three equal pieces, each piece would be 8 divided by 3, which is approximately 2.67 feet long. So, like, each piece would be around 2 feet and 8 inches long. Math can be fun, right?

Cassie has a wood board that is 3434 foot long. She wants to cut the board into pieces that are 1818 foot long. Which expression will help Cassie find how many pieces she can cut?

3434/1818.However, a more reasonable expression is "A piece of wood board which is nearly two thirds of a mile long is so unlikely that I must have made a mistake in recording its length and so I had better do it again!"

How can you cut an 8 foot by 3 foot board into two pieces so that both pieces together cover a 12 foot by 2 foot hole?

There is no way to do this with two pieces. You can do it with 4 (making each 3 by 2) The only way is by having three pieces.... note: The total area is the same so it has to be possible (24sf) 2 cuts total (3 pieces): STEPS>>> 1st: Cut the board into two pieces. Making one piece 8'x2 the other piece then is 8'x1'. 2nd: Cut the 8'x1' piece into half making two 4'x1' pieces. 3rd: Place the two 4'x1' pieces together to make it 4'x2'. 4th: Place the 8'x2' & new 4'x2' pieces together for your desired dimension, 12'x2'
