I am 39 weeks pregnant today with my second child and want to know the same thing!! With my first i tried castor oil at 39 and 40 weeks and just got the runs BIG TIME but no baby, also tried walking, bumpy 4wheeler rides, eating a whole pineapple and sex every day, but nothing happened. At 40 weeks and 2 days i heard of acpressure and did that for 3 hours from 530 til 830 pm while watching tv. At 2am that morning i had my show, mild contractions all day then hard labour all night and the next day, had a healthy 9lb12 girl at 2pm the day after (36 hours start to finish). This time i will get a sweep in 5 days time and take caulophyllum and do the accupressure, as my baby is already in the 9 pound mark and posterior... Altho i will still do a bit of accupressure this whole week to hopefully dialate cervix a bit, and am taking EPO and inserting it "up there" every night. Press the webby bit in between finger and thumb quite deep and hard for 1 minute and stop for a minute, do this for a few hours and it might work... or Google it...
Normally they would only induce labour if they have suspected a problem with you or the baby these can be a range of problems. Or they would induce labour if you have had previous babies which have been too big to deliver and caused tearing. Therefore they may induce you early so you have a normal sized baby.
At 39 weeks, it's normal to be in labor. An exam of the cervix could stimulate the uterus.
if the baby is slow to develop or is still in the womb after 42 weeks
Well, the most natural thing I know to help induce labor is walking, and orgasms or intercourse. Here is a link that will give you a whole list of things that can help to naturally induce labor: * http://pregnancychildbirth.suite101.com/article.cfm/tired_of_being_pregnant
Vinegar will not induce labor. Please don't think about inducing pre-term labor. There's a reason why elective inductions before 38 weeks are such a controversy now. Contact your prenatal health care provider to discuss your concerns and the reasons that you want to go into labor preterm.
Congratulations on your pregnancy. Don't use castor oil to try and induce labor as the side effects are not worth it, plus there isn't any actual proof that is will work. If you are looking for safe and effective, painless way to induce labor at home then maternity acupressure may be for you. Check out this website, http://yourmaternityresource.com/category/maternityacupreesure/ I bought the book, only $29 and it worked great, well worth the cost of the book. I was 41 weeks along, the best part it actually helped reduce the pain of labor and it was well worth the cost of the book to finally meet my beautiful baby boy. I would suggest that you check with your OB/GYN before trying to induce labor at only 39 weeks though.
At 40 weeks it's not called a miscarriage but stillborn. You will have to give birth as if the baby was alive. They will induce the labor.

Drinking vinegar to induce labor is an old wives tale and will not work. It is not recommended to try to induce labor by any methods.
Yes, nipple stimulation can induce labor if you stimulate each nipple for 20mins each and then wait an hour. You should do this for 3 hours out the day.make sure you rest for an hour or more in between
