In the industry, a carpet nail could be one of three things. #1 A reference to the tacks that used to be used to hold down carpet on a wood floor prior to tackless strip ( the 1" wide pieces of wood with pins on it around your walls). Or #2 A nail to hold down those 1" pieces of wood. Or #3 One of the sharp pins in the 1" pieces of tackless strip that hold the carpet onto the tackstrip. There is also a reference to " stay nails " in the industry. These are 1" concrete nails that are driven into the carpet to aid in the installation process and then removed when the installation is complete.

If your carpet is non-synthetic - wool, for example - it won't be affected by nail polish remover. If your carpet is synthetic, nail polish remover will likely dissolve the fibers where it comes into contact with the nap. This is not a "spot" that can be removed. Rather, it is permanent damage.

Carpet cleaner usually works for me! Just put some on the nail polish and rub!
NO, but Goof Off might.
Windex is not an effective solution for removing nail polish from carpet. While it may help with some stains, nail polish typically requires a stronger solvent, such as acetone or nail polish remover. It's important to test any cleaning solution on a hidden area of the carpet first to avoid damage. Blotting the stain gently with a suitable remover is usually the best approach.
While you might not be happy about your daughter spilling nail polish on your carpet, I would say the only proper punishment for her would be to deduct the cost of having the carpet cleaned from her allowance or, if she has a part-time or full-time job, have her pay directly for having the carpet cleaned.
