Though it could be technically possible, it's probably not financially responsible. It would likely cost more than an automatic 1999 Subaru Outback with a rebuilt engine. The main problem would be in changing it from manual to automatic. Or, there are no automatic/manual "engine's", the engine IS separate from the transmission, this is an easy swap provided you have th skills, the wiring harness and ECU will need to be swapped as well.

No, Dexron II automatic transmission fluid is not recommended for a 2003 Subaru Outback. Subaru vehicles typically require Subaru-specific transmission fluid, such as Subaru ATF-HP or a compatible fluid that meets the manufacturer's specifications. Using the incorrect fluid can potentially damage the transmission and affect its performance. Always refer to the owner's manual for the correct fluid type.
To turn on the console lights in a 2005 Subaru Outback, simply ensure that the vehicle's ignition is in the "On" or "Run" position. The console lights typically activate automatically when the headlights are turned on or when the vehicle's interior lights are engaged. If the lights do not turn on, check the dimmer switch for the dashboard lights, which may also control the console illumination. If issues persist, consult the vehicle’s manual or a professional for further assistance.
