I am facing the same exact problem with my Nissan Altima 2000. Did you find the solution?
Does your horn actually work?? OR you might have dis-engaged the horn from working from your remote.....see your manual on how to engage it!
The positive battery cable connects directly to the starter. Depending on what type of vehicle it is, the solenoid is either on the starter or on the inner fender. Power for the solenoid comes from the ignition switch. You can run a wire to the solenoid to cause the starter to engage.
This switch is designed to be sure that the car won't be moved by the starter motor. It requires that the car be in neutral, park, or have the clutch depressed before the starter motor will engage.
The neutral safety switch keeps the starter from engaging when the transmission is in any gear EXCEPT park or neutral. A faulty switch would either allow the starter to engage any time or not allow the starter to engage at any time.
Re-check the routing of the spark plug wires to the distributor cap. or you can check if it has immoblizer in the car or any sort of after market remote starter which has built in starter kill. I think in 1994 they didn't come with immobilizers, are you able to engage the starter if yes then check your firing order, if no then check your neutral safety switch it might be the issue. Nissan is prone to poor ground as well so check ground cable to the engine itself that could be loose or faulty. Best of luck. Binder Oak Lake
In a 1998 Nissan Altima, the shift lock is typically located near the gear shifter, often integrated into the console area. To engage the shift lock, you may need to press a small button or release a lever, usually found under a cover near the shifter. If you're having trouble locating it, consult your owner's manual for detailed instructions specific to your vehicle model.
It depends on the car as it can be located on either side of the engines in different makes. The starter motor can be found lower on the back side of the engine where the engine and transmission meet. The starter needs to engage the flywheel which is where the transmission mounts.
Replace the starter
There is not really much to troubleshoot. Either it works or it does not. If the bendix slips and does not engage then you have to replace the starter. The 3rd bolt is very difficult to reach.
This vehicle (like most cars) has both a starter and an alternator. The alternator is driven by a serpentine belt, and the starter is located on the lower part of the engine at the transmission, where the teeth engage with the flywheel/flex plate. An alternator for the 1992 Sentra usually costs around $120-150, and a starter in the range of $90-120.
same problem, did you ever find the solution?
