Rods and Rocker arms were the problem with my Malibu after changing lifters
One of the most common electrical problems with the 1999 Chevrolet Malibu is with the ignition switchÊhaving to be replaced. Another problem is the passlock sensor failing.
I have a 2000 Malibu and I am having the same problem. There is an electrical problem. I have yet to figure out how to solve it, but turning on the AC blows the fuse. Ive had the instrument cluster replaced, so dont go and do that, because your car will still do the same thing. Your BCM (Body Control Module) may need to be replaced, or it is just a bad wiring. If you have replaced your battery, that may be a part of the problem. I know this information is not much, but hopefully it will help. I have a 2000 Malibu and I am having the same problem. if the pump and thermostat have been replaced on a 2001 malibu and it overheats and the heat doesnt work now but the air does. do it need bleeding still , will air in the line still cause that problem...
There have been problems with the odometer displaying an error but no recalls for it. The instrument panel has to be repaired or replaced to fix the problem.
Yes it will. That happened to my wifes car. The mechanic replaced the pump and it still had the same problem. Replaced the fuel pump regulator and still the same problem. The problem was the ignition switch was shorted and the car thought it was being stolen and shut off the fuel pump. Hope it helps!

Alternator is not charging. Have it tested and/or replaced.
My 1998 Malibu had the same problem. The reason that it is on is because your brake sensor is located in your wheel bearing, and most likely your wheel bearing is worn out. I replaced both front wheel bearings and the ABS light is no longer on.
Is the check engine light "ON" and if so have you had it diagnosed? Did you replace the fuel filter when you replaced the pump?
the only thing i could find is check for water in the lens
head gasket leak or thermostate needs to be replaced
