Of course! The radiator is designed to hold a mix of water and coolant, but at a pinch just water will do. It's not a good idea to do this for too long though as it can cause corrosion in the radiator and engine.

The 1999 monster 626 water pump is located on the front of the engine. You can follow the top radiator hose directly to the water pump.
To drain the coolant on a Mazda 626, locate the drain plug on the bottom of the radiator. Remove the plug and drain the coolant into a pan.

on my 1997 Mazda 626, it's located on the left hand side bottom of the engine where the bottom radiator hose goes to the engine. hope this helps you.
generaly thermostat will be inline with the upper radiator hose, as it goes into the engine block.
