I have a 2006 Prius and lately the headlights had been flickering, mainly the driver's side but then a couple of time both went out completely and the problem is fixed by turning the lights off and then back on but it was becoming more frequent and I was pulled over by the police because of it and yet Toyota couldn't find what the problem was. I took it in a second time and they said the computer that controls the lights had gone bad and since I have an extended warranty the computer cost was covered but they also suggested I get new headlights..although my bulbs were just fine..the cost for one headlight $352.00...are you kidding me??? I will stick with my headlights and I did some research online and found some that will fit my car in the $85 range..so don't buy them from the dealership!! BTW this is supposedly a known problem with the 2006 model.

Yes, I have a 2006 prius. I have had both headlight computer panels/assembly replaced. The light would go out, tunrning of the switch for a second and turning it back on would correct the problem temporarily. The left side is acting up again. The left was the first to go out at about 15,000 miles, then the right side at about 40,000. The right one was covered under a extended warrenty, Toyota told me it cost $900 to fix, cost me $50 with the extended warrenty. Anyone else have a problem, any recalls. Does Toyota realize there is a problem?? i am haveing the same problems with my 06 prius.

Why do your hi beam headlights go off while driving?

I had a problem with my headlights going off, not the high beams. Replaced the rectangular silver can thingy at the fuse panel under the dash on the drivers side. I put a higher rated one in, which is a no no, but it solved the problem of the headlights going out.

That means that you're going too fast to stop by the time you see something in front of you. By the time you see it in your headlights, it's too late.
