I have a Grand Vitara 2.0td 2004. The ECT is under the alternator on the left side of the engine
you have to separate the engine and tranny to have access!! very labor intensive
On our 2001 1.6 Vitar it was the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) sensor that had failed. Cost £160 to replace. You can reset the light off for a time by disconnecting the battery for ~5 minutes
On a 2000 Suzuki Vitara 2.0, the camshaft position sensor is located near the front of the engine, typically on the timing cover or cylinder head. It is positioned near the camshaft sprocket to detect the camshaft's position. To access it, you may need to remove some engine components, such as the intake manifold or timing belt cover, depending on the specific setup. Always consult a repair manual for detailed instructions and safety precautions.
Connected to the air intake.

i need to know. my1996 1600 geotracker engine carries a crank sensor, i am replacing it with a vitara engine but it does not carry a crank sensor. the vitara distributor only has two wires. how do i configure, cause the geo distributor has 7 wires
To replace the camshaft sensor in a Suzuki Grand Vitara, first ensure the engine is off and cool. Disconnect the negative battery terminal, then locate the camshaft sensor, usually found near the engine's cylinder head. Unplug the electrical connector, remove the mounting bolts, and carefully take out the old sensor. Install the new sensor by reversing the steps, ensuring a secure fit, and reconnect the battery.
It is located toward the top rear of the engine slightly to the drivers side.
