To change the rear side glass on a Civic the old glass must be removed from its adhesive. Using special edge tool separate the glass from the car. Do so around all the edges and remove the old glass. Be sure to use proper automobile glass glue on the replacement glass.

How do you replace passenger side rear door's fixed glass on a 1998 Honda Civic?

You will have to remove the rear door panel to gain access to the inside of the door. In the door there is a brace directly under the molding that separates the Fixed glass from the window. If you undo that brace the old fixed part will come out and ou can slide the new window in. It took me less than an hour to replace mine.
