To remove the front seat in a Subaru Impreza, first ensure the car is parked on a level surface and the ignition is off. Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent any electrical issues, especially if the seat has airbags. Remove the bolts securing the seat to the floor, usually found at the front and rear of the seat rails, and then carefully lift the seat out of the vehicle, tilting it if necessary to navigate through the door opening. Make sure to disconnect any wiring harnesses for power seats or airbags before fully removing the seat.

Once the bolts are removed, lift the front of the seat cushion up and then pull it out towards the front of the vehicle. For the seatback, you may need to find and remove any additional bolts or clips securing it before lifting it out.

There is an access cover under the back seat. Remove the back seat by removing 2 bolts at the front bottom edge then lift up the front of the seat and pull it out. Then the seat back can be removed in a similar manner. You will then see a round cover on the floor with a number of screws. Remove this cover to access the top of the fuel tank. Use a BRASS punch to rotate the locking ring and then remove. You can then remove the fuel level sending unit and fuel pump as one unit.
