You pretty much have to disassemble the front end to remove the fog light assembly and get to the bulb. If I recall, I also had to remove part of the wheel well cover. It wasn't fun or particularly hard...just time consuming. Also, you'll not notice a replacement bulb listed in the owner's manual, so definitely take the old one with you. It should be 12V 55Watt. Good luck!
Not to be unkind - but READ THE MANUAL.

My o/s parking lamp will not light, but, the indicator light is on instead, where do i change the bulb and how do i do this? BMW x5 2003
This was answered last week and is a simple procedure. One Phillips screw holds the parking light on in my 2000 Forester. You open the hood, remove the screw, pull the lamp assembly out and you have access to change the bulb. If you are asking about changing the whole assembly, the answer is the same. --Ken
To change the brake light bulb in a 2003 Alero, first, open the trunk and locate the tail light assembly. Remove the screws or clips securing the tail light, then gently pull the assembly out. Twist the bulb socket counterclockwise to remove it, replace the old bulb with a new one, and reassemble by reversing the steps. Ensure the new bulb is securely in place before closing the tail light assembly.
I have a 1999 Forester, but I imagine the 2003 is similar in this regard. You don't actually need to remove the headlamp to replace the bulb. On my car, I unplug the wire from the bulb at the back of the headlamp, remove the large rubber piece around the back of the bulb, unclip the clips that hold the bulb in place, remove and replace. Cheers! Mark This is a good answer and is so just as stated. Thanks Mark! RicT
