To remove the windshield wipers on a 2009 Subaru Forester, first, lift the wiper arms away from the windshield to a vertical position. Locate the small tab or lever on the underside of the wiper blade where it attaches to the arm, press it down, and slide the blade off the arm. Repeat the process for the other wiper. I went to Rain X website. They said it takes a 15" wiper blade. Just go to any auto parts store or Target or Walmart and buy a 15" blade and install it.
Get the blade directly from a Subaru Dealer. The other brands do not fit . I've tried to adapt them, it will not work. Get the whole wiper blade arm and blade from Subaru only. Very expensive for a wiper blade around $18

The 1997 Subaru Legacy has the most common hook-end wiper arms. There will be a little tab or button where the wiper blade is inserted into the hook on the wiper arm.
