The instructions for accessing the tail light are in the user's manual. Basically, you have to remove one or two screw/bolts from the inside of the vehicle, then there are two snap type plastic hole/receptacle in the plastic tail light assembly. Be very careful that you pry on the housing in the proper direction, perpendicular to the entry of the snap in connector, or you will break the plastic bayonet or attachment to the lense assembly.
After the 2 bolts are removed use 3 or 4 small tapered wood wedges (disassembled wood clothes pins), and place them between the lens and the body - starting from the rear on both the top and bottom and work your way forward. The pins pop out without damage. I will likely lubricate the pins with silicone when I reassemble.
