The piston 'arm' (for lack of a proper term) slips over a protrusion on the right side of the glove box. Just extend the arm (piston) to reach that spot, making sure the door is properly attached at the bottom. Once attached, tighten the screw that holds the arm in place. Done!
Hi I just did mine 2005. its behind the glove box tray. Open glove box, take screw off right side of glove box tray, slide the plastic piston out of the way. Un snap glove box at hinge, carefully so you don't crack the plastic. Slide out cabin filter like opening a drawer. Slide in new one, and reconnect the glove box. reconnect the plastic piston, and replace screw. 3 minutes..........
on most toyotas it's behind the glove box.
No. The Generation I Solara doesn't have a cabin air filter. There are filters (behind the glove box door) for the Gen II Solara (2004 and later). Cheers

To change the cabin filter on a 2001 Toyota Solara, open the glove box and remove the retaining screws or clips to access the filter housing. Replace the old filter with a new one, ensuring it is properly aligned. Reassemble the glove box and secure it back in place. Finally, test the airflow to confirm proper installation.
There are two types of keys, each shaped slightly different. One is used for everything, and the other has restricted use. The later is for giving a valet for example, as to eliminate the possibility of exposing your trunk or glove box to a potential thief.
