I just did this on my '99 Honda Accord EX so assuming it's the same as a 2000... put a wrench on the 14mm hex head bolt on the tensioner pulley and turn counter clock wise, this rotates the tensioner releasing tension on the belt . I found it easiest to have someone under the car pulling the belt off the bottom pulley (crank) while someone releases the tension.

How do you tighten belt onto a new alternator.?

If it is a serpentine belt, the tension is automatically adjusted by the tension idler. If the belt is loose then the tensioner needs replacing. If it is a normal drive belt, then the alternator is mounted on a slotted bracket that allows you to adjust the position of the alternator. You can loosen the bolts and adjust the tension on the belt.

Where is the tension release for the alternators belt?

If it is a drive belt and not a serpentine belt is has no tensioner. You manually adjust the tension by normally adjusting tension by moving the alternator. Loosen to bolts holding the alternator in place and then adjust the tension. Tighten the bolts when the tension is right. If it is serpentine belt if you follow the belt around the the engine you will see the tensioner.

Assuming you have a serpentine belt on that 3.3L engine, the tension on the alternator would be controlled by the idler (tension) pulley. The alternator is stationary.

How do you take off alternator tension on a 99 Mazda 626 v6 car?

To release the alternator tension on a 1999 Mazda 626 V6, first, locate the tensioner pulley, which is typically near the alternator. Use a wrench or ratchet to rotate the tensioner pulley counterclockwise, which will loosen the serpentine belt. Once the tension is released, you can slide the belt off the alternator's pulley. Afterward, you can remove the alternator if needed.

How do you tighten alternator belt on a 93 Plymouth acclaim?

The 93 Acclaim has a serpentine belt. The tensioner below the alternator is what keeps the tension. If you have not tension I would replace the belt first and then check the tensioner.

How do I release the tension on a 1996 Chevy Monte Carlo for alternator belt?

Near the top of the serpentine belt path is a belt tensioner; it is spring loaded and has a shinney pulley on it. Insert a wrench into this tensioner and pull against it and the tension will be released so you can replace your belt. I am assuming your question is about the serpentine belt.
