The following is a procedure on removing and installing the oil pan on a 1997 Acura CL 3.0:

1. Raise and safely support the vehicle

2. Drain the engine oil into a suitable container.

3. Remove the exhaust pipe if necessary.

4. Unfasten the oil pan mounting bolts, then remove the oil pan.

5. Clean the sealing surface on the engine and oil pan flange.

6. Apply a bead of sealant to the oil pan flange and install the oil pan. Tighten the bolts to 104 inch lbs. (12 Nm)

7. If removed, install the exhaust pipe.

8. Add the correct amount of engine oil to the crankcase.

9. Start the engine and check for leaks.
