Resetting the SRS light on a 1999 Acura CL requires that you locate the SRS fuse. This fuse is located in the under-hood fuse box and is labeled SRS. Once you locate the fuse you will need to remove it for thirty seconds and then reinstall it. This process will reset the SRS light. To ensure that the light does not come back on you should also inspect the wiring and connections for the SRS system.
In order to complete the reset process you will need to do the following steps:
Once you have completed the above steps the SRS light should be reset and you should be able to drive your 1999 Acura CL without any issues. However if the light continues to come on you may need to take your vehicle to a qualified mechanic to diagnose and repair the problem.
look in your owners manual, it should tell you. the oil filter is pretty easy to get to; its right behind the front passenger side tire.
i have a 2001 acura cl 3.2 and the code p1709 keeps coming up and the drive light flashes. how do i fix this
Correction: to remove the alternator, first you have to remove the master cylinder, and take off the wheel guard by the wheel well(maybe 3 plug in screws) so that you can get at the alternator bolt. Once you get the upper and lower bolts off, use something to pry it out with (2x4 works well), then carefully slide it out, tight squeeze but can be done, and there you go. At the most, maybe 2-3 hrs.
Correct correction, don't remove the master cylinder, you have to bleed the brakes and getting to the mounting hardware and removing the brake lines can be disaster. I have been a mechanic for over 30 years. Do this instead;
remove the left wheel-remove the upper ball joint cover, two 10mm nuts cover the castle nut, remove the castle nut. Remove the strut assembly bolt from the lower control arm, that will give you the necessary travel to remove the driveshaft, that's what is really you need to do to remove and drop the alternator out. Now remove the lower mounting bolt from the wishbone from the lower control arm, this will allow more travel to remove the driveshaft. Remove the upper control arm ball joint nut. You have to release the tension of the upper ball joint to the upper control arm, one way is to use an expensive removal tool or thread the castle nut back on the ball joint stud just enough to protect the threads from being damaged. The object here is to pop the ball joint stud out of the control arm, this is when you have to be careful-I used a lead faced hammer or you can use a brass faced hammer, remember the idea here is to protect the threads. It will take a couple of brave licks to free the balljoint stud from the spindle. I also removed the brake hose securing attachment to allow more freedom for the brake hose. Remove the castle nut from the end of the driveshaft, it's gonna take a big socket, be careful to use a punch to get the locking face of the nut away from the groove of the shaft, take your time and move with small hits on the punch. When that is done remove the driveshaft. I will take some prying from the inner half shaft, be careful not to damage any of the soft rubber boots surrounding the CV joints. The left side of the drive shaft is in two pieces, the inner shaft stays put. Swing the spindle assembly toward the rear of the car and that will give you enough clearance to remove the shaft and finagle the alternator out.Remember to get some cotter pins, if you can save the old ones, good. Don't forget to relearn the computer idle speed calibration, I did the first time and had to disconnect the battery and relearn the computer.
The Vehicle speed sensor is not just one sensor on the Acura CL. There are 4 ABS Wheel Speed Sensors, one for each wheel. If one malfunctions the ABS light will turn on. You may get inacurate Speed readings. You need to run a diagnostic to find out which wheel is malfunctioning. Different sized tires or debree can also cause this issue.
The thermostat is located at the end of the lower hose coming off the radiator.
Remove the plastic air plenum coming from the air cleaner to gain access to the thermostat housing.
Remove the electrical connector to the temperature sensor.
Get the clamp off the end of the radiator hose and remove the hose from the thermostat housing.
There are (2) 10 mm bolts holding the thermostat housing in place. You may want to remove a horizontal bolt clamping some wiring in place as well to get to the lower bolt.
Remove the housing and note the orientation of the thermostat.
Put new gasket on new thermostat and set in place in the manifold.
Bolt up new housing, replace the other bolts removed and reinstall the plenum to the air cleaner.
This connector is directly connected to the( fog light switch) or Plastic Cover next to the shifter (Passenger side).
the driver side on the top right of the firewall if your looking at the engine bay,"in frustration." It is taped to the throng of wires coming out on that side. The throng of wires are coming out of the firewall from the fuse plate that sits under the driver side knock-out plate by the brake pedal. This connector is directly connected to the fog light switch next to the shifter. It will only turn the fogs lights on, in order to get power you can find the other harness or plug directly into the battery like I did. I finally have fog lights, posting a picture now. If you have a 97 acura cl 3.0 remember that the 03 Honda Pilot fog lights will work with out cars. The only thing you need is the plate that screws onto the back of the fog light so that you can then mount to the bumper of our cars. PM me with any ?'s and 97BlackackCL and bRunCL i appreciate you guys continuously replying to my fog light posts.
Remove wheel, remove caliper from mount, not from the brake line or the cable, get proper tool for working on rear disk brakes then twist the piston and compress it back into the caliper, install in reverse order.
As I understand it......
The Filter is embedded in the transmission. The dealership drops the tranny to replace it.
If you are having shifting problems join the club. There may be a recall on your specific vehicle. Check with the dealer but do your homework by checking the internet first. Good luck.

I have a 1998 Acura CL 3.0. I had an experience this past winter. I washed my car, and then the next day I couldn't open door with the remote or manually. I realized that the water drained into the door and froze the lock, so I had to wait until it thawed out. Yesterday, it rained all day, and this morning my car alarm went off for no reason. I remembered in the summer, I fixed the rubber and reattached it to my door. I did it myself instead of taking it to the dealer using superglue. Because the rubber allowed the water into the door it effected the alarm. I unlocked the door, waited until it dryed out and no problem again.
