Why would there be oil in the spark plugs?

Simple. There is a circular gasket for each spark plug between located between the valve cover and the engine. If they are not properly sealed, the oil from the top of engine will leak out of the valve cover and pool into the spark plug sockets. You must remove the oil BEFORE you remove the spark plugs. Anyway, the fix is purchase and install a new valve cover gasket and spark plug gaskets and use a gasket sealant.

Where is the transmission filter in a Acura CL 3.0?

As I understand it......

The Filter is embedded in the transmission. The dealership drops the tranny to replace it.

If you are having shifting problems join the club. There may be a recall on your specific vehicle. Check with the dealer but do your homework by checking the internet first. Good luck.

92 Acura Legend is cranking Had fuel pump and injectors check but they are fine but it will not turn over Could it be something electrical?

It seems like it's electrical. I would check the ignition coil and the igniter. If there isn't enough of a spark being sent out (which seems like the problem) then the culprit is usually the coil/igniter. Particularly if the car will crank once it is warmed up.

You can check for spark by pulling out a plug and very carefully checking for a spark while some else cranks the engine for a brief moment. If you've never done this though have someone that knows what theyu're doing check it out.

All this having been said I'm not an expert. These are things that I'd check if it were my situation.

Good luck!

New Answer HeadlineMy 90 Acura legend died and would not start. After some extensive trouble shooting I found the problem was with the distributor. The distributor bearing had failed resulting in overheating of the distributor shaft which in turn melted the rotor. The rotor ended up pointed 180 degrees from the correctangle. This was confusing since there was spark but to the wrong cylinder. This is a common problem with Honda products. AnswerI would try spraying some starter fluid into the Trottle Body, (Follow from the Air filter Housing , To the Round Black Tube) Both Are Plastic, When You Reach Silver Metal, That's the Trottle Body.

Losen Up The Big Round Clamp, Spray Some Starter Fluid In and Crank it.

If it Starts, Its a Fuel Problem, Of Something Electrical within the Fuel System, (Fuel Pump Relay), (Fuse), Bad Ground, Ect.

Also, You can check if the Fuel Pump is Working By Turning the key to the ON POSITION WHILE HAVING SOMEONE LISTEN BY THE FUEL FILLER CAP.

It will only run for a few seconds then stop.

Hope this Helps You, Joey

Where is the PCV Valve on a 1989 Acura Legend?

It's on the front valve cover. The trick is you have to first remove the "breather chamber" by removing the 2 bolts on top. With the breather chamber cover off, you'll see the PCV valve screwed into the valve cover.

Windshields and Wipers

How do you change the windshield wipers on a 1991 Acura Legend?

The drivers side wiper arm should move up if you pull up on them allowing you room to change out the wipers. Im sure I dont need to tell you how to change the wipers after that right?

As for the right wiper its a little tougher. what i did was turn the wipers on and turn the car off when they were half way up. that should give u enough room to swap it out as well though the arm doesnt come up as high as the drivers side does.

Hope that help you out.

What could cause a '90 Acura Legend to start 90 percent of the time and not start 10 percent of the time?

WEll it could be different reasons...it could be the starter...or the spark plugs not making contact or the wires to the park plugs...or it can even be the battery not having enough juice to turn the car over.....a car is a hard thing to figure out....there are alot of parts that can do the same thing.....and cause the same problem What does it do when it doesn't start? Nothing happens (no sound) when you try to start the car? Does it sound like the engine wants to start but doesn't? We found the answer out to this question...It was a relay switch deep in the dash area of the car. We experienced the similar problem with an '88 Acura Legend...immediately had the relay switch replaced....no more problems!

Where is the fuel pump relay located in your 1991 legend LS?

my 901/2 legend LS fuel main relay is located under the dash near the fuse box. The relay is not near the fuse panel in a 91 coupe. It is in the panel close to your left knee when sitting. Not under the dash. Once the panel is removed (there are screws, does not just pop off), you will see the relay facing you.

What would cause the cooling fan fuse to keep blowing in 1990 Acura Legend?

Worn or damage electrical motor, rotate the motor, movement should be smooth. You can always take it out and test it with the car battery. Be careful because if the motor is shorted it will become very hot.

How do you change spark plugs on a 1995 Acura Legend?

Easy ! There is one ignition coil FOR EACH SPARK PLUG in this engine- six total You remove the two 10mm nuts holding each coil to the head cover, then the coils just lift right out. The spark plug is down in a well under its coil. You will see the top of the spark plug after that plug's coil is removed. There are three on each side. The drivers side may have a metal brace bar in the way. Unbolt this to get to the back coil and spark plug. Note that these are Platinum plugs and are not cheap. Use only the correct Acura recommended plugs. They are good for 60000 miles under normal use assuming the engine is in good shape. You need a standard deep-well spark plug socket tool to remove and install them. Caution: This engine has aluminum heads. DO NOT cross thread the plugs or you will have a big expensive problem. Also DO NOT remove them while engine is hot. You may want to blow out the dirt from the wells before taking the plugs out too, so nothing gets into the cylinders. Put a drop of oil or anti-seize on the threads of the new plugs. Makes them easier to get out next time.

How do you change the brake pads and rotors in an Acura Legend?

Jack up the front of the car and support on jackstands and remove the front wheels. Remove some brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir. The calipers are mounted on brackets which have two bolts attaching them to the steering knuckles. Remove the two small bolts attaching the calipers to the brackets and support them with wire, then remove the brackets. Remove two retaining screws from each rotor and remove the rotors. The retaining screws may require an impact type screwdriver to remove them and if the rotors are stuck they can be removed by threading two 10 mm bolts into threaded holes in the rotors. The rotors should be machined or replaced. Reverse to reassemble. After the caliper mounting brackets are in place install the pads on them and press the piston in on the caliper with a c-clamp and install it over them. The caliper bracket bolts are tight (I believe 80 ft lbs) but the small bolts holding on the calipers are ~20 ft lbs I think. Pump the brake pedal several times to seat the pads.

How do you bleed the coolant on a 1992 Acura Legend?

there is a pee-cock "valve"on the bottom of your radiater.

If you are trying to bleed the air from the system while filling the radiator. Where the top radiator hose connects to the engine just to the left of the intake there is a bleed valve. Take a 12mm socket and loosen this a couple of turns. When coolant starts to run out, tighten this valve (do not overtighten they break easily)

Why would the drive light be flashing and the check engine light on in a 1992 Acura Legend?

ir you mean the overdrive light there is a problem with the transmission It's the speed control. It's a part that looks like a small transmission connected to the power steering. it's the electrical parts that are bad. Hello, First your letter D is flashing because its your VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) that is bad, you have to replace it. All early 90's Legends go thru that the VSS tends to fail its just a defect they have you will also notice rpm idle changes then your mph or rpm needle will stop or jump up and down then your odometer will stop too! and when your check engine lights on that means its really serious now you better get that fixed before your tranny goes out busted too! their about $150 bucks at the auto parts if you know a little mechanic you can do it yourself its not that hard its right next to the oil filter.

How do you replace the fuel pump on a 1993 Acura Legend sedan?

Ok since about 1980 the fuel pumps are now located in the gas tank. The the only way to replace one, is to drop the gas tank. Disconnect all the hoses and fuel lines that you see leading to the fuel tank. jack the vehicle up and support it on jack stands. Should be two straps that support the tank. Loosen the two nuts. May have to drop the exhaust, not familure with your type of Vehicle's locatin of exhaust design. Ok here the deal. if you have close to a full tank i would recommend having a hydrallic jack with a peice of wood on the lift so it won't puncture the gas tank, or just let it fall. Some come out in a 45 degree angle. Once the tank is out, disconnect electrical clips. You will need a screw driver and a hammer. There is a circle metal sleave. Take the screwdriver and put it on the little lip and hammer it off. It's like a screw. Pull the pump out. make sure to get a new pick up screen and fuel filter. It's kind of like changing your oil and not the filter. Now it may sound simple. Usually it's harder to put the tank back in then it is comming out. You may want to take it to a mechanic shop. We just did one on a 88 Cadillac and charged him $250.... But believe me it will save you the agrevation. Not saying it will be hard. but everyone I have done. has been a pain. Hope that helps out some. to get a better understanding of what is involved.

If it's been sitting overnight likely there isn't much pressure left in the fuel system.

1)Take the gas cap off and wait for the hissing to end. Put the cap back on.

2)The fuel pump assembly is located right behind the rear seats in the trunk. Remove the carpet, take out the cardboard over the spare tire. It has a flexible part covering the fuel pump. Flip this over and put the cardboard back in. Now you will be able to lay in the trunk with access to the pump without impaling yourself on the thing that keeps the spare tire in place. Sounds kinda confusing here but its simple when you can actually see it.

3)Remove the 4 12mm bolts holding down the cover over the pump.

4)Disconnect the two electrical connectors. The one on the drivers side is for the fuel tank float, the other one is the pump.

5)Take off the 17mm banjo bolt. Don't lose the washers (one above the fuel line, one below). Move the fuel line out of the way.

6)The fuel return line has a clamp on it. Take a pair of pliers, squeeze it, and then move it along the line several inches so it is out of the way.

7)Pull off the fuel return line.

8)Remove the six or so 12mm nuts holding the pump assembly down.

9)Take the pump assembly out-- it has a sock on the end so it will take some wiggling at an angle to get it out of the hole.

10)Press on the rubber on the bottom until it comes out of the assembly. Take the sock off (there is a ring holding it on). Pull out the electrical connectors. Pull the fuel line hose off.

11)Take the new pump and just do the reverse of these instructions.
