Remove oil pan for access
there are about 12 10mm bolts that hold the oil pan in place. remove them and the pan will drop right down.

If you have clearance just remove bolts

You will need to drain the oil from your 1988 Toyota Pickup truck oil pan. Remove the oil pan by removing the oil pan retaining bolts. Scrape the old oil pan gasket off. Clean the oil pan gasket surface. Put the new oil pan gasket on and reverse the process.
Simply remove transmission oil pan and it's right there all you have to do is remove and replace.
To remove the oil pan from a 1995 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 with a 2.7L engine, first ensure the vehicle is securely lifted and supported. Drain the engine oil and remove the oil filter. Then, detach any components obstructing access to the oil pan, such as the crossmember and any brackets. Finally, unbolt the oil pan from the engine block, gently tapping it if necessary to break the seal, and carefully lift it away from the engine.
Remove transmission oil pan to access filter
Drain oil, remove oil pan bolts (lots of them), take pan off. When reinstalling, don't use cork gaskets, they tend to degrade much faster and you will be right back under there.
You will have to remove the timing belt and the engine pan. Only after that you will get access to the oil pump.
