Just yesterday I replaced the door check on my 07 Eclipse GT:
Buy the replacement part (~$35 at the dealer)
Tools needed: 10mm socket (w/ 6" extension - a plus), 10mm open-end or box wrench, phillips screwdriver
Detach door check end from body frame
Remove door panel from door frame, disconnect wire connector from switches
Remove speaker from door frame
Put arm in speaker hole and hold onto door check, do not allow loose parts (if any) to fall into bottom of door, near-impossible to retrieve.
Unbolt door check from door frame, remove from door.
Install in reverse order.
Recommend not to do final tightening of all door check bolts until both ends have been bolted into position, then tighten the four bolts but do not over-tighten as the threads easily strip.

A low battery can make the starter crank slowly. Another thing that can cause this is bad grounding. Check the ground strap(s) from your motor to your chasis. Unfasten it at each end and clean the connectors and the area where the strap connects. Make sure the strap(s) are not overly frayed. If it is replace it.
Yes you need to at least replace the one that is broken and check out the other one and see that it might need to be replaced!
