you have to remove the cover over the top of the engine. there should be 4 bolts that are 10 mm. youre plugs and wires are easily accessible for there out. the information i gave is for a 2001 4-cyclinder. you'll need a 6 inch extention to reach the plugs though. two of the plugs are under the coil packs. remove the 2 10mm bolts that hold them in place and pull them off. to finish do everything in reverse
A 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.4 has two spark plug wires, for cylinders #1 and #3. Cylinders #2 and #4 use what's known as "spark plug connectors" or "coil to plug boots".

To replace the spark plugs in a 2001 Santa Fe with a 4-cylinder engine, first, ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the ignition coil or spark plug wire from each spark plug, then use a spark plug socket and ratchet to unscrew and remove the old plugs. Before installing the new spark plugs, check and adjust the gap as needed, then thread them in by hand and tighten them with a torque wrench to the manufacturer’s specifications. Finally, reattach the ignition coils or wires and reconnect the battery.

There may be an engine cover over the valve covers that is a big piece of plastic that may say Hyundai, or Santa Fe, I believe its three or four 10mm retaining nuts that hold it on, take that engine cover off, and there should be 3 wires in the top of each valve cover, those big wires are the spark plug wires, and they actually connect to the spark plug which is down inside the cylinder. To remove, you will need a 3/8 drive ratchet, a long extension, I would say 6-12 inches, long enough, but not too long, and a 5/8" spark plug socket. Take one of the spark plug wires out, and put your long extension with the spark plug socket on it down into the hole that the big wire came out of and you should find a spark plug at the end of the tunnel. :)
