The radio has an annoying anti-theft feature that disables/locks the radio whenever power is lost (battery dies or is disconnected for engine servicing). When this happens the radio display will show CODE. Using the radio presets 1, 2, 3, and 4 you must enter your radio's four digit security code. Usually this is written on a card by the dealer and supplied when the vehicle is delivered. If you do not have your radio's 4-digit code, any Mitsubishi dealer should be able to provide it to you for free - if they try to charge you CALL ANOTHER DEALER. When you call you will need to give them your vehicle VIN number and sometimes they ask for the radio's serial number which is on a label on top of the radio unit. You'll have to pop the top dash cover off to view the radio serial number. I wrote my code down in the owners manual because usually need it every six months of so when I work on my vehicle and disconnect the battery. Keep it handy.
disconnect the positive connector on the battery
Dealer has to give that to you.
the radio goes into "off" mode anytime 3 wrong security codes are entered. The dealer has to reset it although I just read a string that said if you leave the door open for an hour with the key in the on position, the radio will reset and you can enter the seciryt code. If you don't have the ode, contact a Mitsubishi dealer
