I just did it, they are getting trickier! You have to turn the odometer/ light switch all the way counter-clockwise and then depress it and hold while you turn the ignition switch to the ACC position, do not start the vehicle, keep holding the odometer reset button down for 10 to 15 seconds and the light will turn off.

I have been following the books directions on page 66 of the owners manual for a few months with no luck!! Until today... TURN OFF YOUR HEADLIGHTS FIRST!!! Then 1)turn off engine, 2)depress the reset/dimmer switch, 3)and then turn the key to on... voila reset
Just depress the reset/dimmer switch and then turn the key to on (II position).Light is gone magically.
I turned the knob CLOCKWISE (righty-tighty) and then depressed it, not counter-clockwise.
