The fan housing on a 97 200sx is held in using 3 10mm bolts on the top of the fan housing. once you remove these 3 bolts and unplug the fans they lift right out
Its located on the passengers side under the dash in the blower housing............
To change the thermostat in a 2002 Nissan Xterra, remove the bolts that hold the cooling fan in place. Lift the fan out of the vehicle and loosen the clamp holding the lower radiator hose to the thermostat housing with a wrench. Remove the thermostat out of the mounting and replace.
The fan housing may be set in crooked and the fan itself may be rubbing on the housing.

It is a royal pain. You have to remove the ternsioner pully and bracket. Fan and fan shroud. And also the hard cooling line that runs to the thermostat housing. you have to do all this before you can get the stat housing bolts out. Fun Fun Fun. I know this because I am doing it right now and am trying to find an easier way...but there isn't

The fan or blower motor is located under the glovebox. Just remove the plastic cover under the glove box and you will see the plastic housing that contains the fan motor. The bottom cover will come of the housing by sliding 2 locking clips. Very easy. This will expose the fan motos and the fan resister. You will need to remove the resistor of the motor first as there is a screw hidden underneath it . Then just undo 4 screws and the complete motor will come out. Very easy . Will only take 10 min to do all. There is also an aircon filter in the same plastic housing. Just as easy to remove. Good idea to give a good clean.
If you are referring to a ceiling fan it is in the bell housing where the fan connects to the electrical box at ceiling level.
Remove the glove box, Remove the lower trim panel from the facia above the passenger side footwell and the lower trim panel from the centre of the facia. Release the retaining clip and remove the passenger side front footwell air duct. Disconnect the wiring connector from the fan motor, noting the correct routing of the wiring. Working your way around the fan motor air distribution housing, undo the retaining screws, then unclip the motor from the housing Remove the fan motor From inside the car, reach up behind the air disribution housing, and disconnect the wiring connector from the underside of the blower resistor which is on the left hand side of the air distribution housing, unclip the resistor from the air distribution housing.
