It depends on what is wrong with it, a minor problem could run as little as 100 dollars while a transmission replacement will run a good 2500-3000 dollars.
It could be caused by a bad modulater, plug screen or it needs a overhaul
Replace the bulb
They have to see what is causing this problem. And they will try to fix it.
I was told at a dealership it would cost me about $3000 (Subaru Forester 2000). Cannot be more exact because when I started pushing for more precise explanation it happened to become a defective wire in the harness, not the transmisssion...

To fix the gas gauge on a 1995 Subaru Impreza, first check the fuel level sender unit, which is located in the fuel tank. Inspect the wiring and connections for any damage or corrosion and replace any faulty components. If the sender unit is functioning properly, the issue may lie with the gauge itself or the instrument cluster, which may require professional repair or replacement. Ensure to disconnect the battery before working on electrical components for safety.
I had the same problem in my 1995, i took it to the dealer and they fixed it. I think it was a very simple fix, but it was many years ago.
the safety neutral circuit (on transmission not clutch) might be going bad. common with subarus
Bulbs burned out? Dimming rheostat is open? Bad headlight switch? Make sure parking and tailights are working (same circuit)
To fix a windshield leak on a 1999 Subaru Impreza Sport, first identify the source of the leak by inspecting the windshield seal and surrounding areas for gaps or cracks. Clean the affected area thoroughly and apply a high-quality automotive sealant or urethane adhesive to re-seal the windshield. Ensure the sealant is properly smoothed and allow it to cure as per the manufacturer's instructions. If the leak persists after sealing, consider consulting a professional for further evaluation, as the windshield may need to be replaced.
To fix the clutch on a 1997 Subaru Legacy Outback, first, ensure the vehicle is securely lifted and supported. Remove the transmission by disconnecting the drive shafts, shift linkage, and any electrical connections. Once the transmission is out, replace the clutch disc, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing. Reassemble the transmission and ensure proper alignment before reinstalling everything. Always consult a repair manual for detailed steps and torque specifications.
Sounds like your bands are shot, this is an expensive repair.
