Take out the screws.
On my 2001 kia sportage, you have to remove the big plastic cover on top of the engine. then you will see the air intake tube that runs across the engine. remove it and the throttle cable assemble. you will see a long black plastic cover in the center on the top engine. take those 6 screws out and there they are. 2 coil packs w/ plug under them, and 2 plugs w/ wires. be careful not to cross the colored wires that plug into the coils, make note of which side they go to.
Easy way is to remove the battery and take out the oil filter from the top.
It can be done in an 8 hour day. It depends on what year, make, model, and engine.
If you do this incorrectly you will have engine damage when you attempt to start the engine. Take it to a professional and have it done right.
