It would be wise to replace the intake gasket with a new one than to try to fix the old one. How long it would take to replace the gasket would depend on the model, year and engine type you have.
It took me about 3 hours. Pro can do it, I guess, for about an hour.
It should take about 8 hours give or take...

If you know what you are doing and are comfortable swinging wrenches, it shouldn't take you more than 3 - 4 hours. If you are not comfortable doing this, take it to a competent mechanic.

To replace the water pump on a 1995 Toyota Camry V6, first disconnect the negative battery terminal and drain the coolant. Remove the serpentine belt, and then take off the timing belt covers to access the water pump. Unbolt the old water pump, clean the gasket surface, and install the new pump with a new gasket. Reassemble everything in reverse order, refill the coolant, and reconnect the battery.
you should only change the gasket if you have to take the valve cover off....... you should only change the gasket if you have to take the valve cover off.......
