Getting a factory terminal is likely not worth it.
First make sure the battery cable has enough slack to cut off the terminal, shave back the insulation and use a new terminal. If you don't have enough slack, you'll need to replace the entire cable.
If you have enough, remove the battery to save yourself from accidentally grounding/shorting our the battery.
Remove the negative battery cable, then remove the positive. Remove the battery.
Cut the battery cable where the terminal is. Strip about an inch of insulation. For my 2003 TL, I had to use the truck size terminal from Autozone as the normal one would not fit the 2 battery cables. Truck size = $3.50, car size = $2.99, not a big difference. Make sure the cable is free of corrosion. If there is any of the powder blue dust, clean it all out with a wire brush. Get the battery cable into the new terminal and tighten. Use electrical tape to cover any excess uncovered battery cable. Pop the battery back in, install the positive terminal then the negative terminal.
To change the battery in a 2004 Acura RSX, first, ensure the vehicle is turned off and parked on a level surface. Open the hood and locate the battery; disconnect the negative terminal (black) first, followed by the positive terminal (red). Remove the battery hold-down clamp, then lift out the old battery. Place the new battery in the tray, reconnect the positive terminal first, followed by the negative terminal, and secure the hold-down clamp.
To replace the EGR valve on a 1999 Acura 3.2 TL, first, ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the negative battery terminal. Remove the EGR pipe and the two bolts securing the EGR valve to the intake manifold. Install the new EGR valve, reattach the bolts, and reconnect the EGR pipe. Finally, reconnect the battery terminal and start the engine to check for leaks.
To replace the starter on an Acura RL, begin by disconnecting the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shock. Next, remove any components obstructing access to the starter, such as the air intake duct or engine covers. Then, unbolt the starter from its mounting location, disconnect the wiring harness, and replace it with the new starter. Finally, reassemble any removed parts, reconnect the battery, and test the new starter.
Remove the negative battery terminal for three minutes.
To replace the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) on an Acura RL, first, disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety. Locate the VSS, which is typically situated on the transmission; remove any components obstructing access. Unscrew the old sensor, replace it with the new one, and reconnect any wiring. Finally, reassemble any removed parts, reconnect the battery, and test the vehicle to ensure the new sensor is functioning properly.
To replace the bank 1 sensor 2 oxygen sensor on a 1998 Acura RL, first, ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the negative battery terminal. Locate the sensor on the exhaust system, typically positioned after the catalytic converter. Use an oxygen sensor socket or wrench to unscrew the old sensor, and then install the new sensor by threading it in and securing it tightly. Finally, reconnect the battery terminal and check for any error codes.
To replace the spark plugs in an Acura RL, first, ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the negative battery terminal. Remove the engine cover if applicable, then carefully detach the ignition coils by unscrewing them and pulling them out. Use a spark plug socket and ratchet to remove the old spark plugs, then install the new ones by threading them in gently and tightening to the manufacturer's specified torque. Finally, reattach the ignition coils and engine cover, and reconnect the negative battery terminal.
To replace the oxygen sensor on a 2000 Acura RL, first, locate the sensor, which is usually found in the exhaust manifold or near the catalytic converter. Disconnect the negative battery terminal for safety, then unplug the electrical connector from the old sensor. Use an oxygen sensor socket or a wrench to unscrew the old sensor, and then install the new one by threading it in and tightening it securely. Finally, reconnect the electrical connector and the battery terminal before starting the vehicle to ensure proper operation.
To replace the starter on a 2004 Acura MDX, first disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety. Remove any components obstructing access to the starter, such as the intake manifold or heat shields. Then, unbolt the starter from its mounting and disconnect the electrical connectors. Install the new starter by reversing the steps, ensuring all connections are secure before reconnecting the battery and testing the vehicle.
Disconnect the negative terminal to the battery for 3 min.. It worked for me :)
The 1991 Acura Legend starter is located on the right hand side of the engine, near the front, at the bottom. You can follow the positive battery cable from the battery to the starter.
To replace the EGR valve on a 2004 Acura MDX, first, disconnect the negative battery terminal and remove any components obstructing access to the EGR valve. Unplug the electrical connector and detach the vacuum lines. Remove the mounting bolts securing the EGR valve and carefully take it out. Install the new EGR valve by reversing the disassembly steps, ensuring all connections are secure, and finally reconnect the battery.
