How do I check the transmission fluid on a 1983 Honda Civic 1500DX
i was told by the dealer on a 1993 civic there is no filter just change the fluid.
Use only genuine Honda ATF DW1 automatic transmission fluid and nothing else.
and automatic transmission does not require tranny fluid, as it is a "manual" and not automatic
The 1996 Honda Civic 1.6 liter MFI SOHC 4-cylinder with the automatic transmission model A4RA need 2.9 quarts of transmission fluid for a fluid change. The total capacity is 6.2 quarts.
The automatic transmission will have a dip stick location on a 1982 Honda Civic. Pull the dip stick to see the color and texture of the fluid.
A 1993 Honda Civic automatic transmission holds 2.9 quarts of fluid. The factory recommendation is Honda Genuine ATF-Z1 automatic transmission fluid. An alternative is a DEXRON II (now replaced by DEXRON III).
The 2013 Honda Civic typically requires about 3.5 to 4 quarts of automatic transmission fluid for a fluid change, depending on the transmission type and whether the torque converter is drained. Always refer to the owner's manual or consult a professional for the most accurate specifications and recommendations.
The recommended transmission fluid for a 1996 Civic is Dexron II or IID transmission fluid. Do not use Mercon fluid as it has a different formulation and may cause harm to the transmission.
The Honda automatic transmission is filled through the transmission dipstick hole.
About 50 gallons
Unless you have a CVT transmission use only genuine Honda ATF-DW1 automatic transmission fluid. Use nothing else.
