I have a 2001 Kia Optima, it has a timing Belt. It also has an iterference engine.
I was 90 miles over the recommended replacement limit when it blew ruining my engine.
I hadn't heard of a timing belt before so woo was I.
Kia was eventually kind enough to replace my engine which was still under warranty.
I am not sure alot of companies had belts at one time but I believe due to this problem many of them migrated back to a chain. You should probably ask a dealer.
The 2011 Kia Optima has a timing chain.
It has a chain.

The 2008 Kia Optima 4 cylinder equipped with a timing chain will normally last the life of the engine and is changed when the engine is rebuilt. The 2.7 Liter V6 is equipped with a timing belt which MUST be changed every 60,000 miles. Warning the V6 is an interference engine.

The 2008 Kia Optima with a 2.4-liter engine is equipped with a timing chain, not a timing belt. Timing chains generally require less maintenance than timing belts and are designed to last the lifetime of the engine. However, it's still important to regularly check the chain and associated components for wear over time.
The 2013 Kia Optima is equipped with a timing chain rather than a timing belt. Timing chains are generally more durable and require less maintenance than timing belts. However, it's still important to follow the manufacturer's maintenance recommendations to ensure the timing chain remains in good condition.
Timing chains unlike timing belts last the life of the engine.
