try heating the hub very hot with a torch. Also, separately, you can try smacking it with a BFH. (big freaking hammer). This often will loosen it enough to allow removal.
Do you still need some assistance?
because you do not know what year it is. if old car remove negative battery cable for 15 minutes. if new car take to car parts store with OBD-II tool and have them reset codes. If light still comes on, then car still has problems.
You could be low on coolant, a stuck thermostat, engine fan not coming on for starters. If still overheats, I would recommend taking it to a Subaru dealer.
a 1999 legacy can drive on both 95 as 98 octane fuel, 98 is slightly more expensive, but still preferred by most legacy owners, since 98 is more efficient and slightly increases performance.
You need to go to a car parts store, and get a repair manual for your car. They cost about $16.00 Or, go to a Public Library. Though what if it still does not come off, after following the instructions in this book? In my case the panel is stuck along the top edge and does not come off. What is the trick to getting it off along the top edge?
You should start from the center by the radio. then there will be screws in you arm console. remove the shift handle this is also held on by a screw probably on the bottom. lift from the rear of the console so you can tell if you still have screws in other places.
If the duse is still good ... then remove the door panel and try cleaning the area ... remove the unit ... clean around the bolt areas. It is probably not getting a good dround. You may have to run a new ground wire..(from one of the bolts to some good metal somewhere handy)Make sure the motor is still operational ... they don't give out often, but they do sometimes. It is just a typical GM unit ... one can be found at a salvage yard.
The question is, does it still work... it may have spat the dummy, or may just be lower than you've risked running it.
You may have a bad valve, did you replace the rotor and cap? Check the cap for cracks.
There is a Haynes Repair Manual for this car, the book has wiring diagrams and repair and rebuild instructions for Subaru Legacy and Legacy Outback and Brighton from 1990 to 1998. The ISBN for this book is 1563923262 i picked mine up for US$15 several in 2003. The book is still in-print and you can routinely find it on eBay.com\half.com for under US$10 shipped. There are people seeling it for over $25 buck online but the book retails at pepboys an advance auto for about US$17(2007/12). Best Of Luck the 2.2L Subaru Boxer is a solid engine.
the very top left of the speedometer area.. Mine stays on all the time and still passes emissions. Same year. 200,000 miles and going strong.:)
fuji heavy industries owns subaru but Toyato owns 20% (it bought it form GM in 2005, it still owns 20%, i think) but Subaru is still its own car company.
